Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Theog & Local Acclimatization
Arrive in the peaceful mountain town of Theog, leaving the heavy tourist traffic of Shimla far behind. Head straight to the Serene Outback Farmstead to check in and freshen up. Spend your first day acclimatizing to the crisp mountain air and embracing the slow, restorative pace of village life. In the afternoon, take a gentle, guided walk around the property and nearby village paths, interacting with the locals to get an authentic feel of the Pahari culture. As evening sets in, gather around a bonfire to enjoy a warm, comforting Pahari-style dinner, featuring local delicacies, while overlooking the sweeping valleys under a starlit sky.
Day 2: The Heights of Narkanda & Hatu Peak
After a hearty breakfast, embark on a scenic, winding drive along the Hindustan-Tibet Road to Narkanda. The highlight of the day is the ascent to Hatu Peak, the highest point in the Shimla district. Choose to hike up the 7-kilometer trail through dense forests of spruce and oak, or drive up the narrow mountain road. At the summit, visit the intricately carved wooden Hatu Mata Temple and take in the spectacular 360-degree panoramic views of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges. On your descent back toward Theog, make a peaceful detour to Tani Jubbar Lake, encircled by thick cedar trees and an ancient Nag Devta temple.
Day 3: Exploring Mashobra & the Cascades of Chadwick Falls
Today, drive towards Mashobra, a lush, green paradise famously known for its terraced apple orchards. Start your morning at the Craignano Nature Park, a beautifully maintained estate built around a historic Italian-style villa. Stroll through the well-paved trails and find a perfect spot for a mid-morning picnic. In the afternoon, navigate toward the Summer Hill area to visit Chadwick Falls. A short hike through the dense, atmospheric Glen forests leads you to the falls, which drop from a height of about 100 meters. The cool mist and the surrounding gorge offer a highly refreshing retreat. Return to Theog in the late afternoon.
Day 4: The Historic Glades of Naldehra
Post breakfast, set out for Naldehra, renowned for housing one of the oldest and most scenic golf courses in India. Discovered by Lord Curzon in the early 1900s, this 18-hole golf course is uniquely situated in a bowl-like valley completely surrounded by an exceptionally thick canopy of ancient cedar (deodar) trees. Hire a local guide for a horse ride or take a walking trail around the deep forested perimeter of the course, which offers elevated views of the landscape and the Sutlej Valley below. Enjoy lunch at a local cafe in Naldehra before heading back to your base in Theog.
Day 5: Departure with Mountain Memories
Wake up early to catch your final mountain sunrise painting the Himalayan peaks in hues of gold and pink. Enjoy a relaxed, extensive breakfast spread at the farmstead. Take one last stroll around the property or visit the local Theog market to pick up authentic souvenirs, such as locally produced apple jams, traditional Himachali caps, or handmade Pahari shawls. Check out of your accommodation and begin your onward journey homeward.
